COVID-19 Vaccination for Pregnant People to Prevent Serious Illness, Deaths, and Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes

On September 29th, 2021 the CDC issued a new advisory regarding vaccination among people who are pregnant, recently pregnant, lactating, trying to become pregnant, or who might become pregnant in the future.

This new Health Alert Network (HAN) advisory strongly recommends that women receive the COVID-19 vaccine before or duringPregnant woman getting COVID vaccine pregnancy. There is an increased urgency around vaccination to prevent severe illness, death, and pregnancy complications related to COVID-19.

As stated on the CDC website “Evidence about the safety and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy, although limited, has been growing. These data suggest that the benefits of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine outweigh any known or potential risks of vaccination during pregnancy.”
